Day1
Skopje– Ohrid (170 km) (D)
Pick up from the airport in Skopje. Transfer to Ohrid (170 km). Accommodation in a hotel in Ohrid. Orientation walk and time on your leisure. Welcoming dinner in a national restaurant. Overnight.
Day2
City Tour Ohrid (5 km) (B, L, D)
After breakfast in our hotel, we will have a tour through the old city of Ohrid, a town of UNESCO. Ohrid is one of the oldest towns in Europe full of history with traces of four thousand years of civilization. We will visit famous untouched medieval churches, the fortress of Tsar Samuel with a beautiful panorama, the ancient Macedonian-Roman theatre, sailing with small boats on the way back to the center. Explanation of the history behind the biggest open-air museum of the Byzantium. Lunch in a national restaurant. Furthermore, we will visit the church “St.Sophia” and we will visit a pearl shop store, where the craftsmen will describe the way of making pearl jewelry. Free time to explore more of this UNESCO site. Dinner in a national restaurant with a folk ensemble and traditional Macedonian songs and dances. Overnight.
Day3
Ohrid - Bay of Bones -St. Naum – Ohrid (B, L, D)
Breakfast in the hotel. Boat trip to the unique reconstruction of a prehistoric settlement on water from the Bronze Age, the most visited site in Macedonia. Explanation by the professional curator. We continue sailing to the extraordinary monument of nature –the Lake Springs and the monastery of St. Naum from the 9th century. Lunch in the restaurant near the springs. Free time. Sailing back to town. Dinner in a restaurant. Overnight.
Day4
Ohrid - Bitola – Kuratica - Ohrid (130 km) (B, L)
Breakfast in the hotel. Visit of the ancient city Heraclea Linkestis (65 km), dating back from the time of ancient Macedonian king, Philip II of Macedon (359-336 BC), the father of Alexander of Macedon (Alexander the Great), who founded this town. Visit of Museum of Bitola and of Kemal Mustafa – Ataturk, father of modern Turkey, who finished military school in this building. Stroll the most famous Macedonian street, Shirok Sokak. On the way back, we will stop in the village of Kuratica, where a local family will be expecting us for home-hosted lunch. Moreover, we will have the chance to ride donkeys. After this special event, we drive back to our hotel in Ohrid. Overnight.
Day5
Ohrid– Stobi – Winery Tikvesh – Skopje (195 km) (B, L)
Breakfast. Today we will visit the biggest ancient city in Macedonia –Stobi (80 km). The oldest synagogue in Europe, from the1st century A.D., was found on this archaeological site. Afterward, we will visit the biggest winery in the Balkans – Tikvesh (20 km). Here we will have lunch with wine tasting and we will take a tour around the winery. Transfer to the International airport in Skopje.
