Departure from Skopje with our vehicle and our local tour guide. We start the tour visiting the important medieval monastery of Grachanica on Kosovo site (90 km or 1 hour and 50 minutes driving). Than we drive to Kosovo’s capital Prishtina (20 minutes from Grachanica). We will explore and visit the Emin Gjiku Ethnographic Museum, set in Ottoman houses, with a range of Ottoman weapons, clothing, jewellery and household items exhibited. In the city centre we will see a 26 metre high clock tower. We will stop at the National Library to see the unique architecture of this bizarre building. In the Independent House of Kosovo we will find out the story of the former president Ibrahim Rugova and Kosovo’s campaign for independence from Serbia and we will see the Newborn Monument, from 17 February 2008, the day when Kosovo declared its independence. Sultan Mehmet Fatih Mosque and Jashar Pasha Mosque are the next on the list, important Ottoman mosques and local attractions. Free time for lunch. At the end we can visit the Gadime Cave and make a short visit. Returning back to Skopje (100 km, about 2 hours driving).
